Treasures and Memories

I got out there really early. Before most people in Quartzsite were out of bed. The sun was barely coming up over the mountain. It has been SO SO cold. 32 degrees in the house van when I got up to turn on the heat.
My hands were almost too cold to hold the camera.

I went to visit Celia's Rainbow Garden. The daughter of Paul
Winer who I wrote about in an earlier post.
She died unexpectedly when she was 8.

There were a lot of memory plaques in the garden.

Some were for loved ones who were missing. I wonder if she was ever found.

                                       Some were siblings??

A lot were young.

Some were pets.

Some gave you a special place to leave a note, a wish or a thought.

Bridges led to nowhere.

 Shoes were empty.

A lot of benches to sit and rest. To ponder. To wonder why.

This wall was surrounded by tiny handprints. Maybe 3rd grade classmates left behind.

And a time capsule to be opened in the oh, so distant future. How many piles of memories will have been added by then?

When someone you love becomes a memory. That memory becomes a treasure.
Leaving a wonderful desert garden of memories and treasures.
